Lisa trained as a doctor before spending much of her career travelling and working abroad. After completing a Master’s in Tropical Medicine, she joined the British Antarctic Survey as a medic, spending 18 months at Signy Island in the South Orkneys during its final wintering season. She later studied remote healthcare in Aberdeen and trained as a general practitioner in North Wales before specialising in travel medicine. For more than 20 years, Lisa worked at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine for the National Travel Health Network and Centre. She has since completed three stints at Port Lockroy, most recently as base leader, and will return for her fourth Antarctic season with UKAHT as Field Team Leader.

We have small dedicated teams in Antarctica and the UK who work hard to keep our operation going, preserving our Antarctic heritage and sharing it with the world. Each year we recruit a team to run and manage Port Lockroy in Antarctica and occasionally also have vacancies for other specialist roles in the UK.
