Maggie Cooke
Conservation Engineer
Maggie is a Conservation Accredited Structural Engineer with over 30 years’ experience working on listed and fragile historic buildings. She is drawn to the unique challenges presented by working in Antarctica – where remote locations, extreme weather and buildings that were never intended to endure the long-term Antarctic environment, demand creative and sensitive conservation solutions. With a lifelong passion for the outdoors and adventure, Maggie sees Port Lockroy as her “perfect project”.

Work for us
Join the UKAHT team
We have small dedicated teams in Antarctica and the UK who work hard to keep our operation going, preserving our Antarctic heritage and sharing it with the world. Each year we recruit a team to run and manage Port Lockroy in Antarctica and occasionally also have vacancies for other specialist roles in the UK. Job vacancies are advertised on this website and on social media. Check out our jobs page for up-to-date vacancies. We politely ask that you keep an eye on these pages for any updates rather than contact us directly.
