Amanda Barry
Museum Manager, Port Lockroy
Amanda has spent over 30 years working in public relations and communications, and is the author of PR Power, a guide to public relations. After running her own PR agency for ten years, Amanda was head of press and PR at the waste and recycling body WRAP, where she became interested in supporting environmental issues. She decided to offer freelance consultancy to organisations in this area and took a BSc in environmental studies to support her work. In 2017, she trained as a personal development and life coach after finding it a valuable and rewarding process herself. Amanda grew up surrounded by books about Antarctica that had belonged to her father, who had been stationed at Port Lockroy in 1948/9. At 77 years later, she is thrilled to be following in his footsteps. When not dreaming about the Antarctic, Amanda loves to walk with her two spaniels in the hills near her home in the Scottish Highlands

Join the UKAHT team
We have small dedicated teams in Antarctica and the UK who work hard to keep our operation going, preserving our Antarctic heritage and sharing it with the world. Each year we recruit a team to run and manage Port Lockroy in Antarctica and occasionally also have vacancies for other specialist roles in the UK. Job vacancies are advertised on this website and on social media. Check out our jobs page for up-to-date vacancies. We politely ask that you keep an eye on these pages for any updates rather than contact us directly.
