In addition to managing heritage sites on the Antarctic Peninsula, we have operated a grants programme. We gave money to organisations with an interest in sharing the stories of British endeavour in Antarctica.
We have supported a whole range of projects and we were interested in hearing from any organisation who had an idea for a project which furthered our organisational aims:
- Preserving and enhancing the unique physical heritage of human endeavour in Antarctica to the highest standards, in the UK, in Antarctica and beyond.
- Inspiring people to pursue a lifelong engagement with the legacy of the pioneers of British Antarctic science and exploration.
All our grants were funded through income generated from donations, legacies, the support of visitors to Port Lockroy and the ‘Friends of Antarctica’.
Moving forward we are developing a 2020 Programme to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the first sighting of Antarctica and we will be open to receiving applications which support this programme. Further details will be announced shortly.
